The Recession Hits Silver Spring!
5:36 P.M. APRIL 15, 2009
After a week of scholastic hell I got on the computer today to catch up on Weeds. So, I go on my way, first to Surf the Channel, then I follow their links to Megavideo. I watch the episode from three weeks ago, I relax, slouch. I start watching the next episode, Andy's about to do something drastic, and then the recession finally reached my home with crushing force. "You have watch 72 minutes of content. Please wait another 54 minutes before watching any more, or upgrade to a Premium Membership." WHAT.

I included the Glue Society in my Best List Ever a looong time ago, but they just did some new stuff and I really like it and they are so cool and I want to move to Australia and be inducted.

I'm not exactly sure what the pigeon is about, but I'm sure it's something meaningful that I don't understand.

More money!!!

No words.

Actually a few words: I always thought that that was illegal. Maybe he's like Banksy and uses an alias?.

On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me... money money money. Gift cards grift cards gift cards. Five stupid gifts. (That were returnable for more money!). I was not expecting anything for Christmas, being dirt poor and all, but hey sonnn, my parents somehow delivered. Except now I'm being really protective of my money and the people at both the Georgetown and Silver Spring locations of American Apparel think I'm retarded for exchanging things like every other day. No really, it's gotten so bad that I'm afraid to walk into either of them now, especially after the cashier in Georgetown told me I was ridiculous, and that I should stay in the store all day buying and returning things, and suggested that I could be her little project. Then she kept saying I was hilarious, without smiling. I think she was on something. Anyway the only one I can go to now is the one in Linclon Square, and I'll be sure to be on my best behavior. Like an outlaw starting a new life in a far away country, haunted by the ghosts of his past... Anyway here's the artist I promised. Haha this could be anticlimactic.

Ho ho ho.

Gee Whiz, Street Jizzz
4:33 P.M. DECEMBER 21, 2008
Some photos of the CSS show. This band called SSion opened for them and they were eh at first but I really like them now they have a song called Street Jizz, go YouTube it. I got to touch Lovefoxxx's butt when she was crowd surfing. It was a magical thing. And then I caught the water bottle that she threw into the crowd. IT HAD TOUCHED HER LIPS. Could I have sold it on eBay, or started a stalker collection? On the way out some punk ass bouncer said I needed to throw it away. Please. So I kept the cap and gave him the bottle. At least I got to swig some of the water beforehand.

And I realize that I never posted about that artist. That's coming.

I Can't Help Myself
10:08 A.M. DECEMBER 13, 2008
So I was browsing the interwebs and found some stuff by this guy named David Stoupakis (Greek?) and I think they're awesome. They're pop surrealist apparently and also "phantasmagoric." Whatever I just think they look cool. I like the colors and the playfulness/darkness if that makes any sense. Here's a more articulate review from Corey Helford:

For his second solo exhibition at the Gallery, Stoupakis parlays his talent for the supernatural and macabre into dramatic narratives that reveal symbolic turning points and unexpected dilemmas. A delicate balance of childhood innocence and haunting imagery, the series of oil-on-panel paintings and graphite drawings recounts grim fairytales of the decadent and demure.

Again, holiday music post coming up. Don't expect Christmas songs though. Just songs I like that I'm happening to post around Christmas... Who needs another cover of White Christmas?

The Potomac Is No Sassafrass
11:16 P.M. DECEMBER 9, 2008
Well I need to ignore my English work. Time for a post. I hope everyone else's Thursday night goes better than mine. But I won't complain about my workload, no one cares about that. So I've been back from the river for a week, wishing that wasn't. I seriously wish I could spend every night on the dock until 4 A.M. But I returned with some shiny new photos from way back in October. They've just been sitting on my computer for a while. So feast your eyes on these frames. Shot over the course of a day in Chinatown/at the NGA/in Woodley Park.

I found a new waste of time on the internet, Twitter. Hit me up (I'm wxyzack) for excessive updates about my hourly whereabouts and goings on. It's like a mini blog. Oh and speaking of that (mini blog: iPod mini: Apple) I feel obliged to shout out to the new MacBooks. I think I've said this before, and I don't mean to belabor the point, but they are beautiful.

Christmas Present
10:43 P.M. DECEMBER 2, 2008
You can thank me later... Some big changes are soming to Shutter that will keep it from being a pointless feed about my life and turn it into a sexycrazy torrent of music, art, and awesome. Step 1: I'll actually make more art. Step 2: More frequent posts, less words, more music and art. Step 3: You guys read it religiously! Ok so I'm ready if you are. Here's something that came to me while making our club tees. Enjoy.

Then check out Santogold if you haven't already. That song sounds so familiar but I have no idea where I heard it. Her new album is coming out in January I think, so you oughta look out for it. On a random note, the Lomography Society's pop-up shop opened in New York the other day. I want a lomographic camera so bad but they're like a hundred dollars and the film is pricey too.

My Best(?) List and Then Some
3:10 P.M. NOVEMBER 21, 2008
Over a month ago I decided I would log all the awesome stuff I found on the web and then compile it into the best post ever. Instead, I forgot about that until now when I decided it was time for a post, bestest or not. So, this might not make you stiff in the pants but try to enjoy it.

My life
Just an update. Life is good, and I am officially staying at RM. And I'm doing Amigos next summer which is proving to not be worth all the stupid training (did you know you're not supposed to use racial slurs for Hispanics while in Mexico?).

The Girl Next Door
My new favorite movie. A porn star moves in next to this underdog kid in high school and he saves her from the porn industry by... filming a porno in the school library on prom night. Think Superbad but less obscene, with better acting, and way more meaningful character and plot. I get to watch it again at Joyce's in a week. Counting the minutes...

The Glue Society
Some awesome Australians who do some bad ass art/stunts.

Hooking Up
It's a YouTube show, starring my homey KevJumba. I think NBC owns it or something. It's actually not even that funny, but it kills 5 minutes. Plus there are some hilarious moments that make it worth watching.

JCDC
Lego runway, tight right? I especially like the close-ups of the plastic audience members.

JCDC VS LEGO from Four H on Vimeo.

Josh Keyes
Some awesome paintings. Pretty random, but they remind me of my old drawings from pre-school when I was on my nature kick and wanted all the animals in the world to live in like one enclosure at the zoo.

Bevel and Boss
The mecca of weird things. Weird but often thought-provoking albeit bizarre.

So that's my list. I have some more stuff but hell if I'm coding any more post layout. My temptation to switch to Blogger or something is setting back in. I don't even know why I keep writing this blog. The only people who read it are Bea and Clara, and Bea comments saying "I didn't read that." But screw logic I like having a shiny site to call mine. Wow.

Triflin' Hoes
9:58 P.M. OCTOBER 11, 2008
I thought I'd use the word triflin' one last time before it died. This is no a music blog and a photo blog, cause I like music way more than I do taking pictures. Listen up:

Red and Purple (In the Trenches) by The Dodos
Lolita by Throw Me The Statue
Look At Me (When I Rock Wichoo) by Black Kids
Young Folks by Peter Bjorn and John
Outta Harm's Way by King Kahn & The Shrines
Diamond Life by Tyga

I should have some photos up soon, I'm doing another shoot with Grace, Kemi, and a new addition, Carolyn, this Friday. So I'll put those up when they're developed. I'm going to the Sassafrass this weekend, where I won't have to give a crap about anything except whether I should nap on the dock or the couch.

Safari 3 on OS X Leopard.
